Dr Sammia Shahid (Dean Research/ORIC) is associated with UMT since 2010. She has the honour of founding Chairperson of the Department of Chemistry from 2014 to 2018. She is involved in teaching and research at postgraduate, graduate levels and has supervised numerous PhD/MS thesis. She was selected by American Chemical Society for training in Malaysia on Global Chemists Code of Ethics. She also received Training at George Mason University USA. Recently she was selected for two years Women leadership in Higher Education program at Michigan State University by US Consulate and NAHE.Her research interest includes isolation of chemical constituents from medicinal herbs and their bioactivities, synthesis and applications of nanomaterials. She has published more than 80 scholarly articles in reputed journals and presented research work in various International conferences especially at USA, UK, Malaysia,Turkey and Abudhabi.
