He began his professional life as a teacher at Government College of Science, Faisalabad. He then obtained a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of the Punjab, specializing in cloning and characterization of thermostable enzymes from a hyperthermophillic archea.

He was involved in the isolation of thermophilic bacteria from hot springs of northern areas of Pakistan. His research has been concerned with cloning, expression and purification of protein. He has worked on protein and enzyme chemistry.

His longstanding interest in the field of Forensic DNA analysis started with the joining of Punjab Forensic Science Agency, Lahore. Previously, he has served as supervisor of Forensic DNA and Serology department, Punjab Forensic Science Agency. At same time, he was member of visiting faculties of Government College University, Lahore and University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore. He was involved in teaching MS classes of Forensic Science programs in these institutes. Apart from organizational and administrative duties, he had supervised various M. Phil students of these programs.

He got advanced trainings in forensic DNA analysis from Forensic DNA Department at the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office, Cleveland, Ohio, USA and National Centre for Forensic Sciences, University of Canberra, Australia. As Forensic Scientist, he has analyzed and generated forensic reports in numerous cases. He has honor to work with various international forensic agencies. As forensic expert, he has testified for many cases in various courts of Pakistan.

In 2014, he joined Department of Chemistry, University of Management and Technology as Assistant Professor. He is teaching various courses of Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Forensic Sciences and Bioinformatics. His research interests are Forensic Serology, Forensic DNA Analysis, Cloning, Expressing of Recombinant Proteins, Protein Chemistry, Enzymology and Bioinformatics.
