18th Research Colloquium of the School of Science

The School of Science (SSC), University of Management and Technology (UMT), organized its 18th Research Colloquium on January 22, 2026, at IS-29, providing a platform for faculty and researchers to share research developments in computational physics and emerging AI-assisted research practices.

The colloquium focused on “First-Principles Insights into Material Properties Using WIEN2k” as the Topic of the Month, with Computational Physics highlighted as the Research Focus. The session featured Dr. Shamsa Kanwal, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, School of Science, as the presenter, with contributions from Dr. Qurat-ul-Ain and Ms. Hudaibia Murtaza.

The event also addressed the growing role of artificial intelligence in academic research through the AI Theme, “Enhancing Manuscript Quality Through Comprehensive AI Reviewer Feedback,” presented by Miss Hira Yaseen, Lecturer, Department of Physics, School of Science.

The 18th Research Colloquium highlighted the School of Science's continued emphasis on computational approaches, materials research, and the responsible use of AI tools to support scholarly work. The event was linked with SDGs 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and 4 (Quality Education).
