9th Research Colloquium School of Science - 21st March 2025

Friday, March 21, 2025

In this ninth research Colloquium, the Ssc cordially invited Particle/Nuclear and Astrophysics research group to share and enlighten their perspective of the nature of the universe.

The main title "Within the microseconds of the Big Bang" by Prof Dr. Muhammad Arfin. Khan Lodhi explored about the epoch of the universe in microseconds where the universe was an extremely hot and dense plasma of quarks, gluons, and photons. Around 10?6 seconds, quarks combined to form protons and neutrons as the universe cooled, leading to the formation of atomic nuclei in the next few minutes.

Followed by Associate Dean Dr. Imran Jamil, presented the talk on the basic background about particle physics and his current research activities, that extensively covers about the formation and interactions of fundamental particles, which emerged in the early universe and the Standard Model.

Finally, Mr. Syed Nasrullah Ali Qazi presented about the Astrophysics research group activities specifically about the cosmic-rays plasma system in which it covered about the high-energy charged particles (cosmic rays) interacting with astrophysical plasmas, influencing shock formation, magnetic fields, and energy transfer in environments like supernova remnants, galactic outflows and solar winds.
