Guest Lecture - Introductory Lecture on Thin Film Technology

Sunday, April 27, 2025

The Department of Physics proudly organized a guest lecture by Dr. Muhammad Imran Ali, Doctoral Research Fellow at the School of Physics, Peking University, on 27 April 2025.

Topic:

Introductory Lecture on Thin Film Technology

Dr. Imran Ali delivered a comprehensive introductory lecture on the fundamentals and applications of thin film technology, a cornerstone of modern materials science and nanotechnology. He explained the principles behind thin film deposition, structural characterization, and the role of thin films in advanced technological applications.

The session covered:

  • Overview of thin film materials and their physical properties

  • Deposition techniques such as physical and chemical vapor deposition

  • Structural and optical characterization methods

  • Applications in photovoltaics, microelectronics, sensors, and energy devices

  • Research opportunities in materials science and applied physics

Dr. Imran Ali emphasized the growing importance of thin film research in renewable energy systems, semiconductor industries, and next-generation electronic devices. He also shared insights into conducting experimental research, publishing in high-impact journals, and pursuing doctoral studies in internationally recognized institutions.

The lecture concluded with an interactive Q&A session where students engaged in meaningful discussions about laboratory techniques, research collaborations, and career pathways in materials research.

The Department of Physics extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Muhammad Imran Ali for his valuable contribution and for inspiring students to explore emerging research areas in thin film technology.
