UMT 2nd International Conference on Emerging Trends in Physics (ICP-2025)

The Department of Physics at UMT successfully hosted the 2nd International Conference on Emerging Trends in Physics (ICP-2025) from April 14 to 16, 2025, with the central theme “Mitigation of Carbon: Pathway Towards a Sustainable Future.” The conference brought together researchers, academicians, professionals, and students to explore cutting-edge solutions in renewable energy, carbon mitigation, and climate action in line with several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
National and International Participation:
The conference featured a dynamic lineup of national and international speakers, with distinguished scholars from Turkey, Japan, China, and Malaysia delivering their talks virtually. These speakers shared the latest insights and breakthroughs in fields such as:
- Renewable Energy Technologies (solar, wind, biomass, etc.)
- Green Hydrogen and Fuel Alternatives
- AI-Driven Smart Grids and Energy Storage
- Carbon Capture and Circular Economy Models
Locally, students from UMT and other universities across Pakistan also participated actively by presenting their research work, posters, and oral talks. This provided an excellent opportunity for young researchers to interact with global experts and receive valuable feedback on their work.
Inaugural Ceremony – April 14, 2025
The first day of the conference was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, Vice Chancellor of the University of the Punjab, who praised UMT's efforts in fostering academic innovation and international collaboration.
Opening speeches were delivered by:
- Dr. Asghar Zaidi, Provost UMT – who highlighted the university’s commitment to sustainability and research excellence.
- Prof. Dr. Sammia Shahid, Dean SSC – who emphasized the role of interdisciplinary research in addressing climate and energy challenges.
Concluding Ceremony – April 15, 2025
The closing session featured insightful remarks by:
- Dr. Qayyum Zafar, Conference Secretary – who acknowledged the contributions of all participants and organizers.
- Dr. Tanvir Hussain, Conference Chair and CoD Physics – who commended the successful execution of the event and expressed gratitude to all collaborators.
ICP-2025 marked a successful milestone in UMT's growing reputation as a hub of scientific innovation, sustainability research, and international academic cooperation.
