Dr. Yasir Rehman is working as Associate Professor in the Department of Life Sciences, University of Management & Technology. He is involved in teaching, research and administrative roles. He has been teaching various subjects such as microbial genetics, molecular biology, recombinant DNA technology, microbial biotechnology, etc. to graduate and post-graduate students. He has supervised 2 Ph.D. students and several M.S. and B.Sc. students. Dr. Yasir also serves as Chair of Departmental Lab Development and Procurement Committee and Chair of Departmental Biosafety and Bioethics Committee.
His research interests are environmental microbiology, microbial ecology and metagenomics. One of the major focus of his research is microbial detoxification of heavy metals (especially arsenic) and how microbes can help plants grow in heavy metal contaminated sites.
