Events contribute significantly towards cultural development, tourism promotion, increased visitation, volunteer participation, fundraising, and economic development. Most importantly, events create a sense of fun and vibrancy, resulting in a strong sense of community connectivity, pride, and a sense of place. The Event Management Committee (EMC) creates an opportunity, for faculty staff and students, at the departmental level to connect, and spend time together. The following are the objectives of the committee:

 

  • To advise and assist at the departmental level to formulate plans and policies regarding extra-curricular and curricular activities.
  • To provide training, supervision, and assistance to other personnel involved in the organization of the event at the departmental level.
  • To arrange events such as cultural celebrations, arts & entertainment, sports competitions, and educational & scientific seminars at the departmental level.

Website Management Committee

The primary role of the Website Management Committee (WMC) is to maintain the contents of the Department of Physics website. The WMC is comprised of faculty members from the Department of Physics. The WMC liaisons with the Office of Technology Enablement (OTE) for the technical support of website management. The objectives of the WMC are as follows:

 

  • To make sure the updated content on the physics website
  • To upload the resources required by physics faculty, student, and staff on the website
  • To assist the physics faculty in updating their profile
  • To announce and represent the department's curricular and extra-curricular activities on the website.
  • To provide information related to the research activities conducted by the students and faculty members on the department website.

The Time Table Committee (TTC) of the UMT Department of Physics recognizes the importance of time and ensures proper utilization for the faculty and students which makes them organized and uses time effectively to maximize the chance of success hence increasing productivity.

  • To ensure workload is equitably distributed among the members of the faculty providing adequate time for preparation between the lectures.
  • To make sure the Timetable, of laboratories and courses, is available on the departmental notice boards before each semester.
  • To review and manage the Timetable and address any of the conflicts regarding the clashes in the Timetable.
  • To prepare data sheets every semester.
  • To deal with different supporting departments for the smooth and clash-free time slots of physics and laboratory courses.
  • To help the advisors with course offerings for the next semester.

 Grievance and Disciplinary Committee

The objective of the  Grievance and Disciplinary Committee (GDC) is to develop a  responsive and accountable approach among all the stakeholders so as to maintain a harmonious educational atmosphere in the University. The critical parameters of the GDC are the following:

  • To uphold the dignity of the university by ensuring a conflict-free environment and promote cordial student-student, student-teacher, student-employee, and employee-employee relationships and empower them to take ownership of their institution and its policies.
  • To encourage the students, employees, and other stakeholders to express their grievances/problems freely and frankly without any fear of being victimized.
  • To advise the university's students and employees to respect one another's rights and dignity and show utmost restraint and patience whenever a conflict arises.
  • To advise all the stakeholders to be affectionate towards each other and not behave in a vindictive manner towards anyone for any reason.
