Dr. Qayyum Zafar completed his PhD degree from the Department of Physics, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur-Malaysia. His PhD research topic was “Fabrication, Characterization and Performance Optimization of Photodetectors Based on Solution Processed Organic Bulk-Heterojunction Blend”. After his PhD, he has also served as Bright Sparks Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Solar/Photovoltaic Materials Research Group (University of Malaya, Malaysia) under the project "Enhancing performance of Organic Electronic Devices by Systematic Molecular and Interfacial Modifications for Improved Charge Carrier Transport". He has also served as ERASMUS MUNDUS Post-Doctoral researcher at the Department of Electrical Engineering (Frederick University, Cyprus) under Erasmus Mundus (EM) INTACT mobility program. Before joining UMT as Assistant Professor (Physics) in 2018, he has also served as Assistant Professor at Department of Physics, Government College University (Lahore) under HEC-IPFP program.

  • Material Science (Thin-film organic semiconductor devices: solar cells, photodetectors and ambient sensors).
  • Project Title: "Organic Semiconductors based Ambient Light and Humidity Sensors (OSAS) - Fabrication, Characterization towards Commercialization”. The Research Project was awarded in the Year 2020 by Deanship of Scientific Research, Qassim University, Saudi Arabia. Project Number: (10233-qec-2020-1-3-I). Project Budget: Two Hundred Twenty-Five Thousand Saudi Riyals (SAR 2,25,000/=). Status: Completed.
  • Project Title: "Synthesis and Characterization of Layered 2D Advanced Materials Based Sensors/Devices for their Application in Multivariable Parameter Detection”. The Research Project was awarded in the Year 2021 by Deanship of Scientific Research, Qassim University, Saudi Arabia. Project Number: (10275-qec-2020-1-3-I). Project Budget: Two Hundred Twenty-Five Thousand Saudi Riyals (SAR 2,25,000/=). Status: Completed.
  • Project Title: "Multifunctional Scaffold Materials for Highly Efficient Hybrid Halide Perovskite Solar Cells”. The Research Project was awarded in the Year 2022 by Competitive Research Program, Pakistan Science Foundation PSF. Project Number: (PSF/CRP/Consrm-92). Project Budget: PKR 14 Million. Status: In Progress.
  • Project Title: "Development of HHO generator with a capacity of 5 Nm³/hr". The Research Project was awarded in the Year 2023 by Diamond Fabrics Limited (Saphire Group of Industries), Pakistan. Project Budget: PKR 03 Million. Status: In Progress.
