Prof. Dr. Sammia Shahid (Dean SSC & Research) has been with UMT since 2010. She was founding Chairperson, Chemistry (2014–2018), and is Founding Dean Research (since 2018). She teaches and supervises MS/PhD theses. She was selected by the American Chemical Society for training on the Global Chemists Code of Ethics in Malaysia and completed a two-year program at George Mason University, USA. She also completed a two-year Women’s Leadership in Higher Education program at Michigan State University, supported by the US Consulate. Her research focuses on bioactive compounds from medicinal herbs and nanomaterials. She has published 100+ research papers and presented at conferences in the USA, UK, Malaysia, Turkey, and Abu Dhabi. She received HEC’s Best University Teacher Award. She has led UMT’s research growth through conferences, collaborations, and academic reforms in research rewards, fellowships, PhD admissions, and designing Research Strategy.
