UMT Department of Physics Visits Punjab Forensic Science Agency for Educational Exposure

Lahore, April 29, 2025 — The Department of Physics at the University of Management and Technology (UMT) organized an educational visit to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA), offering students a unique opportunity to explore the intersection of physics and forensic science.

The visit was led by esteemed faculty members Dr. Qurat ul Ain, Dr. Qayyum Zafar, Dr. Sidra Khalid, Dr. Sidra Ashraf, Ms. Hira Yasin, and Ms. Hudabia Murtuza, accompanied by undergraduate students from the 4th and 6th semesters of the BS Physics program.

During the tour, students explored a wide array of specialized forensic departments, including:

  • Audio Visual Analysis

  • Computer Forensics

  • Crime & Death Scene Investigations

  • DNA and Serology

  • Firearm & Toolmarks Identification

  • Forensic Photography

  • Fingerprint Analysis

  • Narcotics Division

Each department showcased its methods, instruments, and scientific procedures used in real-life forensic investigations. Students were introduced to modern technologies and techniques such as biometric verification, digital evidence recovery, ballistics analysis, DNA profiling, and crime scene reconstruction—enhancing their understanding of how physics and other scientific principles are applied in criminal investigations.

The visit served as an eye-opening experience, providing students with practical exposure and encouraging them to consider interdisciplinary career paths within science and law enforcement.

The Department of Physics at UMT extends its sincere gratitude to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency, especially the dedicated forensic experts who facilitated the sessions.
