Overview
Departmentof Mathematics is offering a 4-years BS degree program in Statistics. Program has been designed according to the scheme of studies approved by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan to assure the quality education to equalize it with national and international standards. Department has offered a variety of courses under the umbrella of School of Science (SSC) to have the benefit of a flexible curricular program. The program aims to produce quality students who are able to prepare themselves for advance studies, teaching and research in statistics as well as careers in other related disciplines. In this regard Mathematics department will provide them with possible facilities and guidance.
The Major Aims and Objectives
The major aims and objectives of BS statistics are to adapt the curriculum to meet the international standards.
- To provide a sound footing of the subject matter of statistical theory with applications, so that the students can pursue higher degrees and research in the field of statistics.
- To train the students in the use of statistical software and techniques of data collection and analysis so that they can compete in the job market.
- Apply appropriate modeling techniques to conduct quantitative risk analysis
- To involve the students in research project so that they can be better trained in the field of research.
- To develop a solid foundation for the effective operational and strategic decisions based on statistical theory and methodology in almost every discipline.
- Aspire to evolve as integral part of society through their knowledge and professional skill
These objectives are consistent with the mission of School of Science (SSC) and hence of University of Management and Technology (UMT), Lahore.
