Dr. Muhammad Azeem Akbar Rana is currently working as Assistant Professor (Analytical Chemistry) at the UMT, Lahore. He completed his Ph.D. (2017) at KFUPM, focusing on the “Study on electrochemically treated carbon electrodes for phenol, α-naphthol and their selected derivatives detection”. Dr. Azeem has worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow (2018 – 2021) on the development of “Enhanced nanomaterial-based shale inhibitors for water-based drilling fluids” and this research project was funded by Saudi Aramco. He received his B.S. degree (2008) from the PU, and his M.Phil. degree (2011) from the UET, Lahore. He co-authored 25 research articles and has been granted 5 US patents. Currently, the key focus of his research is the application of advanced nanomaterials for the development of environmental pollution sensing, shale inhibitors, water analysis, and removal of hazardous materials ‎from water and petroleum products.
